Exporting your video from Premiere to Ligos MPEG encoder

In this guide we are going to explain how you can export your video from Adobe Premiere to the Ligos MPEG encdoer with my video server plugin v0.93. As an example we take the sample file "Ztour" of Premiere and code this project as a PAL VCD with the Ligos encoder. After reading this guide you should be familiar with my plugin and can start encoding your own video as VCD, SVCD or DVD. In this guide we assume that you are using the Ligos encoder but of course you can use any encoder that reads AVI files and code them in any format.

As the source quality of the "Ztour" is not very good, the quality of the output will also be low.

Step 1:

First open the Ztour project within Adobe Premiere.

Step 2:

Select File->Export Timeline->Movie

Step 3:

This will bring up the Export Movie window. Press Settings

Step 4:

Select the Video Server Plugin. Because the Ligos encoder is not able to read compressed audio from an AVI file, you need to set the video server to RAW audio. As a result, PCM audio will be written into the IPCserver.AVI. This can be done by selecting the Video Server and clicking on "Advanced Settings". It is normal that you get an CRC error the first time that you use the plugin.  Select the Frameserver tab and set the audio mode to RAW. If you are not sure if you are using the right settings please verify them at this page.

Step 5:

Because your source material (Ztour sample file has a lower resolution than VCD)  has not the correct resolution for VCD, Premiere can scale it to the right format. Because we are going to create a PAL VCD it is recommended that you set the Frame Size to 352x288 and the frame rate to 25 fps. When you are done with this, click on the OK button.

Step 6:

Now we are ready to start exporting. When you click on the save button, the plugin starts and creates the IPCserver.AVI (default in c:\). Please note that the filename that you enter in the Export Movie window is not the file that is written to disc. (For specialists: it is the PIPEname to communicate to the Encoder).

When everything went O.K. you will see the plugin window. DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW.  Now you can open the IPCserver.AVI in Ligos encoder and start encoding.

Step 7:

The plugin is now serving and the file IPCserver.AVI is written to disc. Now it is time to launch the Ligos encoder and open the file. After the file is opened in the Ligos encoder an AVI file information dialog is shown. Inside this dialog a warning is displayed, about the compression ratio. Ignore this message, as the Ligos encoder assumes that video is written into the IPCserver.AVI file. This is NOT the case, the video is read directly from Premiere without any kind of compression. As a result you achieve the highest quality possible.

Step 8:

Press O.K. and set the encoding parameters for PAL SVCD. Click here for a readable screenshot for the settings.

Step 9:

When you are ready with setting the encoding parameters, press the green arrow to start encoding.

Step 10:

Just wait till the encoder is finished with the encoding process. While the encoder is encoding you will see the following screen.
